ABOUT JAY

Located in the area of Boston, Massachusetts, Jay DeVito specializes in large-scale black and grey tattoos and is known for his application and attention to detail. Jay started his artistic journey when he was a young teen, attending an art school in Tampa, Florida. When he was twenty three he purchased his first tattoo machine and began practicing on some very brave friends and family members. Starting a tattoo career without a traditional apprenticeship wasn’t easy but, he continued to work at it. Jay developed his craft well enough to get scouted by a local tattoo studio named Calaveras in Chelsea, MA. Edgar, the owner, took a shot and believed he had potential to do great things, which he’ll forever be grateful to him for. After a few years of developing his style, Jay started traveling and attending various tattoo conventions. He has won a number of awards for his black and grey style of work as well as being featured in various magazines.

The Process

Thank you for reaching out, here is my booking process.

-HALF DAY/FULL DAY APPOINTMENTS-

I work in half day and full day sittings. Please understand that larger scale pieces require multiple appointments (i.e. sleeves, half sleeves, etc). Additionally, everyone’s skin is different, as is every piece. Some pieces require more detail. Some people’s skin is harder to work with, which may extend the process of finishing the piece. Please note that your day may go longer than your estimated time, so plan your schedule accordingly. Your day includes setting up, stenciling time, etc. Work is work.

The starting rate for a half day is $1000. My half day normally consists of a time period of 10am-2pm. My starting rate for a full day is $2000. My full day consists of a time period of 9am-5pm. I currently have an hourly rate of $250 with a half day minimum.

-DEPOSITS-

EACH & EVERY appointment requires a deposit of $250 for booking. This deposit secures your spot and guarantees your time and date. If you have a large project and would like to book multiple appointments, you will need to leave a deposit for each date. You cannot combine deposits to use towards one individual appointment. If you need to move your appointment or reschedule your day or time please notify us within 72 HOURS of your appointment and your deposit will be honored towards a future date. If you do not notify us you will forfeit your deposit. Deposits come out of the total cost of each session. You will receive a confirmation text upon booking as well as a week prior to your appointment to confirm. Please respond to the confirmation text or your appointment will be filled within 72 hours under the assumption that you are cancelling. Keeping in contact is very important and communication is key.
